Thinking responsible retailing

The former Helix lighting premises on Wellingborough Road in Rushden have just been let by commercial property agent Prop-Search to the social enterprise company Think3e for its first retail chain outlet.

The Think Shop offers responsible retailing and recycling, and forms a major part of Think3e.  Its strategy is to divert brand new products from landfill and deliver big name brands to the public at less than half of the Recommended Retail Price of other well known high street retailers.

Marcus Baldry, a Director of Think3e, says: “Our Think Shop social enterprise intends to shake the high street up in the very way we run the store.  Conventional organisations who get a product and mark it up as high as practical to make a profit.  The Think Shop differs in that we start with at least a 50% discount off the RRP to sell them as quickly as is practical.”

Simon Toseland, a Director of Prop-Search responsible for the letting, adds: “This new store isn't your normal charity shop offer, but rather a flagship giant 70,000 sq ft facility - making Think3e one of the biggest social enterprises on the high street in the UK.”

Think3e engages with blue chip companies and offers an ethical solution to their returns and end of line problems.  The company either resells the products or recycles those items which can’t be resold, without the need for landfill, or exporting abroad.

Think3e is the UK's largest recycling social enterprise with bases all over the UK.  It employs only the most disadvantaged in the labour market.  It also helps other establish social enterprises and runs a consortium of social enterprises which tender for grants and contracts all over Europe.
